Raid in Davangere


On request of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Davangere, three staff from the Open Shelter project of Don Bosco Child Labour Misssion, Davangere gathered in DCPU office for a raid to identify child labourers and school dropouts. Together with the District Child Protection Officer and police department they made a blue print of the places where the vulnerable children are found. Then the team made a sudden inspection to ESI Slum, Durugamma Temple, Aruna Theatre Slum, Vinoba Nagar, Old Baathi Darga, Shamnuru Bypass and Yellamma Nagar.

Seven children were rescued from begging and after collecting basic information from the children and parents all the required documents were prepared. They were produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Davangere backed up with the documents like JJ form 17 and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children), First Referral Report of CINOCAP Rule 29(8). The committee ordered for care and protection to be given to them. Three of them were handed over to the parents in front of the CWC. Back
