National Youth Day 2020
Don Bosco child Labour Mission Davangere organized National Youth Day
celebration at Government Boys School, Davangere on January 16, 2020. The
programme started with a prayer.
Mr Basappa (Assistant Teacher) talked about the national youth day and went on to
the importance of youth. He himself welcomed all the guests and all those who
gathered for the celebration.
Mr Dinesh KN (Social Worker, Don Bosco Open Shelter) quoted Swami
Vivekananda as January 12 is his birthday and then introduced the programme. He
also talked about DBCLM, Davangere and its activities in and around Davangere
since 1996. He enumerated how DBCLM could reach out to many underprivileged
children through its many programmes. He also talked about child abuse and child
protection mechanisms. Childline and its services also were found a place in his talk.
Mr. DR Narasimhaswamy (Assistant Teacher) talked on Swami Vivekananda. He
shared with students life of Vivekananda and his famous speech in Chicago.
Mr. Sunil H (Coordinator, Don Bosco Open Shelter) talked about children in
vulnerable situations like begging children, street child, orphans, school dropouts,
small venders and other issues faced by children. He exhorted the students to join
hands to create a better society for the children.
Mr. Parameshwarappa concluded the program by thanking Don Bosco Child Labour
Mission, Davangere for taking this initiative of educating the students.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Manjunath D (Team Member, Don Bosco
Childline Collab). He thanked the school authorities for making the staff, students
and premises available to have a programme of this kind.
