YaR Day/Children’s Day 2017


Don Bosco Child Labour Mission (DBCLM) celebrated the YAR Day, around the theme ‘Caring for the Earth, Our Common Home’ on 23rd November 207. More than 406 children from in and around the area gathered at the Government Higher Primary School, Arasikare (Harapanahalli taluk) along with the dignitaries for a significant purpose. This particular place was chosen precisely because of the presence of many seed companies and a high rate of child labourers. The chief guest of the programme was Mrs. Sushilamma, member district panchayath Arasikare. Other guests on the stage included Mr. K. Kodhandarama, the Vice Director of Education Department, Davangere, Fr Cyril Sagayaraj, the Rector of DBCLM, Davangere, and many others.

The programme started with a prayer dance by Don Bosco RBC Children. The award for ‘Champion of Child Rights’ by CREAM was awarded to Mr. N. Kotresh, former member of the Taluk Panchayth Arasikare, Mr. Lingesh DS, Mr. Arjun Parasappa, the Head Master of the Govenment School Arasikare and Mr. Shivaramappa, President of SDMC Higher Primary School, Kosavanahalli for their contribution in the field of child labour eradication and upholding the rights of children. Mr. Manjunath B. The key note speaker from DBCLM, Davangere, Fr Cyril, Mr. Ramanaik .Y and the other speakers stressed on the need of protecting children from child labour, child marriage and other social evils in their talk. There was also an oath taking ceremony where in all those present pledged to fight these social evils. The whole programme served well its purpose of creating awareness on these social evils in the locality. The program was concluded by Mr. Arjun Parsappa Headmaster of Government Higher Primary School Arasikere a by Vote of thanks.
